Turn Your Idea Into a Mascot
A character for your school, a familiar face for your brand, or the star of your next event — it all starts with your idea. Use this guide to put together a custom mascot request and work through the details with MakeMascot before you order.
Your Custom Mascot, Step by Step
Prepare a clear brief, discuss the possibilities, and confirm what will be made.
Show Us Your Character
Email your artwork, a sketch, or a set of reference pictures. If you want to adapt one of our existing costumes, include its product link and explain what you would like to change.
- Include different views of the character where possible.
- Point out the features that define its personality.
- Attach logos and color references relevant to the design.
Describe What You Need
Tell us how the mascot will be used and which details matter most. A costume for a stage performance may have different requirements from one used for photographs or greeting visitors.
- List your preferred colors, clothing, and accessories.
- Mention movement, visibility, and ventilation needs.
- Let us know the quantity and whether it will be used outdoors.
Plan the Fit
Start with the wearer's height and general size. We can then discuss which additional measurements are needed for the costume you have in mind. Label your measurements clearly in centimeters or inches.
If several people will wear the mascot, provide their height and size range so the shared fit can be reviewed before ordering.
Request a Quote & Schedule
Share your delivery country, postal code, and required arrival date. The design, materials, costume size, quantity, and shipping needs all help determine your quotation.
Planning for a fixed event? Ask us to review the production and delivery schedule before you place your order.
Check the Details Before Ordering
Make sure your quotation and agreed specifications cover:
- The character design, colors, and materials.
- Wearer measurements and fit requirements.
- Costume components and any accessories.
- The total quoted cost and payment arrangements.
- The estimated production schedule.
- The delivery address and shipping arrangements.
Discuss revisions before confirming the order. Once work has begun, a change may require extra time or cost, and some changes may no longer be possible.
What Would You Like to Customize?
Use these areas as a starting point for your design discussion.
Each request is reviewed against the costume's construction. Confirm availability, feasibility, and any additional charges with our team.
A Better Brief Makes a Better Starting Point
A few extra details can help us understand both the character and the person wearing it.
Taking Measurements
Use a flexible tape and record actual body measurements. Ask which of the following your costume requires before sending a full set:
- Height without shoes.
- Chest, waist, and hip circumference.
- Shoulder width and arm length.
- Inseam and shoe size.
- Head circumference, if needed.
Avoid adding your own allowance; discuss the room needed for movement with us.
From a Drawing to a Wearable Costume
A flat illustration does not show every detail needed for a costume. Side and rear views, close-ups, and notes about the character's key features help complete the picture.
Some shapes may need adjustment to accommodate the wearer, maintain balance, or allow movement and visibility. Tell us which features must be preserved so these can be discussed during the review.
Screens and fabrics can display colors differently. For a specific brand color, send its code and ask about the available fabric matches.
Only have an idea so far? Describe the character, its personality, and how you plan to use it. Add whatever references you have, and we can discuss what else is needed to assess your project.
Common Questions About Custom Mascots
Can I customize a mascot already listed on your website?
Send the product link with a list of the changes you want. We will review the request and advise on the options and quotation for that costume before you order.
Do I need finished artwork to make an inquiry?
You can start with a rough sketch, photos, or a written idea. Clear references make the discussion easier, and further views or details may be needed before the specifications can be agreed.
Can the costume be shared by different performers?
Include the smallest and largest wearers' height and size information in your brief. Whether a suitable shared fit is possible depends on their size range and the design of the costume.
What information do you need to quote a custom mascot?
Send your design references, requested changes, quantity, wearer information, and delivery destination. Include any event deadline and accessories so these can be considered in your quotation.
How far ahead should I order for an event?
Contact us as early as you can with your event date. Custom work needs time for the design discussion as well as production and shipping. Request a project-specific estimate before ordering.
What if I need to change something after confirming?
Email us promptly with your order details and the requested change. We will check the stage of the work and whether it can be accommodated. Revised pricing or timing may apply.
